Kye, male Rhesus Monkey

Kye, male Rhesus Monkey

30.00

Kye is the product of the UK primate pet trade. He lived part of his life in a family home, but after becoming too large, he was taken to an animal sanctuary where he lived in a small cage.

Kye has suffered terribly over the years both physically and psychologically. His legs are deformed due to rickets caused by poor nutrition and is emotional fragility is very apparent. When Kye first arrived at the sanctuary, he would throw himself around his cage in pure terror if approached by an unknown human. If he saw another monkey, he would bite himself inflicting cuts and bruises from the stress.

After time, peace and tranquillity and kindness, Kye is now calm and relaxed. He lives next to other monkeys, joins in their vocal communications and doesn’t bat an eyelid when he sees unknown humans. He is a completely different monkey to the terrified little soul who arrived traumatised and abused.
